Represented in a host of different environments, from the red earth mining centre of Karratha, to the lush vineyards of the South West, to the blue waters and white beaches of Rottnest Island, and the rich port heritage of Fremantle.
Samphire Rottnest, located on the premiere tourist destination Rottnest Island, hosts 80 suites, pools, unique dining options, and a range of indoor/outdoor function spaces, overlooking breathtaking views of Thomson Bay. We are entering a new and exciting era and are looking forward to building our team in support of this.

The Role
As the Maintenance Assistant, you will be exposed to many learnings of what it takes to work across a luxury resort, heritage listed buildings and a class A reserve (talk about experience!).
To be successful in this role, you will have a desire to undertake many varied responsibilities, collaborate not just within your team but across departments and venues, be a team player who is there to help save the day and problem solve your teams requests - ensuring everyone is living in a safe environment, enhancing our guests experience and maintaining the beautiful facades that make up the Samphire Rottnest.
This role is open to entry level junior candidates, all the way through to experienced apprentices looking for a sea change, or potentially even someone who enjoys being on the tools and is looking for their chance to experience working a trade life in an official capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance activities in hotel public areas and guest rooms like plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing all types of hardware, plumbing and electrical equipment and cosmetic items.
- Adhering to all health and safety regulations and procedures.
- Identifying and reporting any hazards or risks associated with manual handling tasks to management.
- Receive and forward all goods and deliveries in and out of the hotel to the correct point of contact/storage area.
- Responsible to verify all goods arrived as per the agreed purchase, delivery note and agreed quantity has been received.
- Communicate effectively with staff and guests to provide them with information and assistance as required.
- Participate in training and education programs provided by the property.
- Assist in recyclable waste processing across the properties.
- Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
- Keep accurate recordings of all incoming and outgoing goods.
About You
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a trade, maintenance, or hands on role where power tool equipment is used consistently.
- Positive, hardworking, and a ‘can do’ attitude – someone there to help the team.
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols.
- Ability to work autonomously & well under pressure – remaining calm & collected.
- Reliable, self aware and approachable manner.
- Strong relationship management when engaging with all stakeholders.
- Immaculate presentation and strong written & verbal communication.
